As you may have read in my last post (Work in Progress) I have the 3D printed figures ready to go for a project I have been working on for while now, which will destroy them. I decided to first use them to create a shot of the character walking through a set I cobbled together on my workbench, to see if these prints were cleaned up enough and to check for quality consistency. You can see the setup above. Here is the result:
I am still amazed to see these object come to life and I think they passed the test. The movement is a little jerky. In After Effects I added some motion blur (pixel/optical flow based). Does make it smoother:
See the difference? Does it loose some of the charm of Stop Motion?
Now I need to find a good chunk of time to record the prints melting, all 24 of them. That will probably be after Memorial Day, when we will be visiting the nation’s Capitol.
